Let's dive in right away!
Step 1 - Access Perplexity Pro and write a smart prompt
Gather the content for the report. This might not be necessary since you'll be researching relevant content in Perplexity. However, it is advised to have a topic and a few details ready. It will help you in exploring the content.
Access Perplexity and log in to an account or create a new one.

Ensure that the deep search mode is selected if you want a complete report on a specific topic.

Craft a concise and informative prompt that thoroughly describes the topic. Let's say you want to search for 'Wholesale food inflation in the U.S. in 2025'. Use the following prompt or modify it by describing your own topic.
Prompt:
What are the {write your topic and provide some details}? Include recent data, government responses, and industry insights.

That's a good report. However, it lacks some visuals that might help identify the causes and the impact on ordinary people. We want to create a comprehensive report. So, we will use the following prompt for clarification.
Prompt:
Include a comparison of the prices of bananas, apples and oranges. Show a graph that illustrates the price growth and its impact on the general public.

If you disagree with something, write a prompt and ask Perplexity to correct it. The report it generated looks good. Let's move on and create a report inclusive of these answers.
Step 2 - Turn your search into a page
Once you've finalized the report, scroll the page all the way up. Click the ellipsis icon at the top right corner of the page. Select 'Convert to page.'

Perplexity starts creating a report. It will write an introductory paragraph and add sources to the report.

There are options to edit almost anything. To edit the heading, click the pen-arrow icon next to the heading text.

Next, click the layout button to show or hide the header image. Click the 'Edit' button to rewrite the intro paragraph if you're not satisfied with it.

Step 3 - Customize your report.
The best part of perplexity reports is its customization. You can add an image yourself or generate a shiny new one with a click of a button.
Click ‘Add media.’ Upload an image or use an AI generate image.

Here’s the diagram it generated.

Perplexity doesn’t stop here. You can add sections of content in your report. Simply, ask a question and click the ‘+’button.

Perplexity will add a section. If you click the image+text button in the chatbox, it will generate images for the section, too.

Add as many section as you like. Once the report is complete. Proof read it. If you need changes, simply ask Perplexity to generate new content. It’s that simple.
Step 4 - Format, finalize and download the report
After finalizing the report, click the ‘Done’ button at the top of the edit page. The report will be published online as soon as you click the Done button.

Sharing the page is really easy. One thing, we liked about Perplexity is its simplicity. All you have to do is click the link button at the top right corner of the page, and the link will be copied to the clipboard. Tweet it, write a post about it on Instagram or simply email it to your boss and colleagues. It’s that simple.

To unpublish or delete the page, click the ellipsis button at the top of the page and select the appropriate action.

That’s it for this tutorial, folks. Always ask follow-up questions. If you think the report is incomplete or Perplexity failed to add sections, use follow-up prompts to rectify the issues. It’s all about asking the right questions at the right time!
