🚀 Nvidia is now more valuable than AppleLINK
Nvidia's market capitalization reached $3.01 trillion, surpassing Apple's $3 trillion and making it the second most valuable company globally.
The chipmaker reported a significant profit of $14 billion in May, driven by high sales of its products, and its stock is priced above $1,220 per share with a planned split on June 7th.
Nvidia dominates the AI chip market with 70 to 95 percent share and intends to release a new AI chip annually, starting with the Blackwell B200 GPU later this year.
🚨 Humane warns AI Pin owners to ‘immediately’ stop using its charging caseLINK
The company Humane has advised AI Pin users to "immediately" cease using the charging case due to a potential fire risk linked to a third-party battery cell.
Humane has terminated its relationship with the battery supplier and stated that the AI Pin, Battery Booster, and charging pad are not impacted by this issue.
As compensation, Humane is offering two free months of its subscription service, but it has not yet confirmed if a replacement charging case will be provided.
👀 Meta leaks its new VR headsetLINK
Meta has inadvertently leaked its upcoming VR headset, the Meta Quest 3S, for the second time in two weeks, this time through a video filmed by its CTO.
The video, posted by CTO Andrew Bosworth, showcased the new mixed-reality upgrades in Horizon OS v66 and featured an unidentified Quest headset in the background, which resembles previous leaks of the Quest 3S.
Speculations suggest the Meta Quest 3S might be officially revealed at Meta Connect 2024 on September 25 and 26, although continued leaks might prompt an earlier teaser from Meta.
🔮 Elon Musk plans to build multibillion-dollar supercomputerLINK
Elon Musk's xAI may establish the world's largest supercomputer in Memphis, Tennessee, known as the Gigafactory of Compute, pending approval.
The multibillion-dollar project, powered by Nvidia's H100 GPUs, could generate hundreds of jobs in the local area according to the Greater Memphis Chamber.
Musk aims for the supercomputer to be operational by fall 2025, making it the largest investment in Memphis if approved by local authorities.
⚖️ Microsoft's 'acquihire' of Inflection AI's staff probed by US regulatorsLINK
The Federal Trade Commission is investigating a recent agreement between Microsoft and AI startup Inflection as US antitrust regulators intensify scrutiny of the booming artificial intelligence sector.
The investigation will determine if Microsoft's investment in Inflection was an acquisition that should have been disclosed to the government, raising concerns about potential impacts on market competition.
This probe is part of a broader initiative where the FTC and the Justice Department are finalizing an agreement to jointly oversee AI giants, aiming to prevent monopolistic practices and promote fair competition in the AI industry.
