💥 Apple's biggest iPhone redesign in 7 yearsLINK
Apple might introduce the "iPhone 17 Slim" with one of the biggest design changes since the iPhone X, by relocating the rear cameras from the top-left corner to the top-center.
The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to be more expensive than the current iPhone 15 Pro Max, which costs $1,199, indicating a high-end pricing strategy.
The iPhone 17 Slim is rumored to feature significant improvements such as an aluminum chassis, a pill-shaped cutout for selfie cameras, and the latest A19 Bionic chip, making it a premium and thinner device compared to existing models.
🤫 ChatGPT can talk, but OpenAI employees sure can’tLINK
OpenAI announced that ChatGPT can now speak with a human-like, feminine voice.
The announcement was overshadowed by the resignation of co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever and his co-team leader Jan Leike, stirring speculation about internal issues at OpenAI.
Former employees of OpenAI are bound by strict nondisclosure agreements that prevent them from criticizing the company or revealing internal details, which raises concerns about the company's transparency.
🤗 Slack has been siphoning user data to train AI models without permissionLINK
Slack has been using messages, files, and user data to train AI features without asking for user consent or providing prior notice.
This practice was revealed after a user brought it to light on X/Twitter, prompting a widespread backlash and concerns about data privacy and security.
Slack acknowledged the data usage but stated that the data does not go toward their premium AI tools, while critics emphasized the opt-in-by-default approach and inconsistencies in Slack's policies.
💶 EU threatens Microsoft with billion-dollar fine over AI misinformationLINK
The EU Commission is demanding that Microsoft submit internal documents on the risks of generative AI in Bing, including false information and deepfakes, or face a fine of up to one percent of its total annual revenue.
The integration of generative AI into Bing has resulted in misinformation and bizarre user experiences, particularly concerning elections, as discovered by AlgorithmWatch.
If Microsoft fails to comply with the EU's request by May 27, it could face fines of several billion dollars for breaches of the Digital Services Act, which aims to mitigate risks to political discourse and elections.
🚨 Ex-Facebook exec who used company cards to steal millions gets prison timeLINK
A former Facebook executive, Furlow-Smiles, was sentenced to over five years in prison for stealing millions of dollars through a fraud scheme involving company credit cards.
Furlow-Smiles funneled money from Facebook corporate credit cards to associates, who then returned most of the funds to her via various payment methods like PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App.
Besides her prison sentence, Furlow-Smiles was ordered to pay almost $5 million in restitution to Facebook, now Meta, and $121,000 to Nike, where she also committed fraud during her brief employment there.
